Melin Tregwynt
Tucked away in a remote wooded valley on the Pembrokeshire coast, Melin Tregwynt is a small, whitewashed woollen mill with a rich heritage. A mill has stood on this site since the 17th century, where local farmers once brought their fleeces to be spun into yarn and woven into sturdy Welsh wool blankets.
Owned by the Griffiths family since 1912, the mill has weathered wars, recessions, and the passage of time, continuing to craft fabrics that are simple in spirit, timeless in design, and satisfying in quality. Many patterns are drawn from an extensive archive or created in-house, remaining true to the mill’s traditional double-cloth weave—deeply rooted in Welsh folk heritage.
Now operating as an Employee-Owned Trust, Melin Tregwynt employs over 40 skilled artisans and champions British manufacturing. With every product made, it continues to preserve and evolve the craft of Welsh weaving, ensuring its enduring legacy for generations to come.
